Market Day – July 4th Weekend

Summer is reaching its high point at the market. Beautiful things are coming on and the late Spring items are still hanging around. It is a great time to go to the farmer’s market. I picked up three types of berries (could have been 5), fresh fava beans, the first small carrots and beets. Really wonderful time to shop and cook.
Tonight’s dinner was a 4th of July weekend classic – hamburgers on the grill with green beans and bread-and-butter pickles from the market.
The featured image has most of what I picked up from the market. Here it is again. The items going left to right are: Fromage Blanc from Capri Cheese, Carrots, Squash Blossoms (check back tomorrow for that dinner), Raspberries, Fresh Fava Beans, Chioggia Beets, Mustard Greens (top center), Blueberries, French Feta from Capri Cheese, Baby Summer Squash, Green and Wax Beans, Strawberries, Carrots, Sweet Cherries and Ricotta Cheese from Butler Farms. I also bought a pork steak and tenderloin tips from Fountain Prairie Farms.
