Oops – forgot the film moment

So – a bit of a mistake Saturday night – I forgot to put the memory card back in my camera.  I shot some lovely pictures of the Market Dinner I made but they are all in my memory and none in my computer.  The picture of the butterfly that has been hanging out with us while we eat will have to do.

We have a morning ritual after I return from the market.  I bring home pastries from Madison Sourdough Company‘s booth at the top of State Street.  They make their pastries with their croissant dough.  They are flakey, a little chewy and not overly sweet.   We have tea and pastries about 10:30, and now that the weather is nice, we take tea in the garden.

We made the Asparagus with Poached Eggs dinner again last week.  This time a made a simple cannellini bean salad for a side dish.  If you start with my Cannellini Bean recipe, this is a quick and easy side dish.

Asparagus with Poached Eggs and Cannellini Beans with Tarragon

Recipe: Cannellini Beans with Tarragon

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups cooked Cannellini Beans
  • 2 Tbls Olive Oil
  • 1 Tbl minced fresh Tarragon
  • 2 tsp White Wine Vinegar
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Drain the cannellini beans from their cooking liquid. (NOTE: if you are using canned cannellini beans rinse them well.) My cannellini beans pick up the flavors of the allspice, garlic and rosemary so they make a more flavorful side.
  2. Drizzle the vinegar over the beans and toss to coat well. Add the tarragon and salt and pepper then drizzle with the olive oil and toss again.
  3. Let rest for 15 minutes to 1 hour at room temperature before serving.

Finally – the missing picture dinner.  We grilled trout and potatoes.  The trout was prepped with a tarragon gastric.  Another very simple dish to prepare.  The gastric adds a slightly sweet and tangy flavor to the fish.   Wish I had pictures for you.  The potatoes where first boiled in salted water until just fork tender then they were tossed with ground chipotle pepper and olive oil.  They were then grilled (cooked a second time).  The grilling add smoke and crisps the skins and outside.  They turned out smokey and spicy with crispy outside and soft insides.

I’ll double check the memory card this time.
