About

When the Dane County Farmers’ Market moves outside, this is the true start to Spring in my mind.

In this blog, and a possible book come Winter, I will capture recipes and my trips to the market.  This is not a locavore exclusive adventure.  I cook with things from around the world.  I love to cook with cannellini beans, olive oil and many other things which don’t grow here in Madison.

This blog and book will, I hope, celebrate the wonderful diversity of ingrediants that are at the farmers’ markets and will inspire you to go to your market and shop.  It will also, I hope, let you enjoy my relationships with the farmers that I buy from all the time.  You will get to peek into our discussions and see what comes from getting to know your farmers.

Last year, one of my favorite growers stopped me and said, “Taste this! Taste This! You’ll love it!”  She knows my love of spicy greens and she had found one that they had in their salad mix.  She was right, I did love it and she started bringing bunches to sell.  She knew my tastes and brought a new ingredient to my world.  All I had to do was chat and taste and talk.

Join me over the next year as I shop and cook and share my recipes from the market.   You can listen in and cook along with my market year.
